Please allow me to introduce... me. Hi. *you're doing well, kiddo* I'm Saf Ovacik. This is a picture of me when I wasn't an adult.
To think that my parents thought I would grow up to become a doctor still surprises me.
Now that I've covered, "the who am I?" it's time to cover, "the what am I?"
I'm a creator of absurdity. I'm the generator of awkward laughter (sometimes out of pity) I'm the maker of world class baklava (but that's not why you're here) I am an up and coming writer and director of films, plays and digital content. I recently made my theatre directing debut at theMelbourne Fringe Festival 2018 for a one woman show called Night Terrors: Emergence. Four classic tales of literary terror were brought together in an atmospheric and intimidate one-woman performance.
Prior to this amazing play, I directed a short film I wrote titled Witchoman. It's a short mockumentary about two Turkish witches and their Australian apprentice who learn to adapt to a magic free life in suburban Melbourne.
I am also a member of the West Writers Group, an initiative by the Footscray Community Arts Centre for the next two years. Prior to that, I completed a Graduate Certificate in Arts from The University of Melbourne and also studied a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Multimedia.
I am a 33 year old female from the Western suburbs of Melbourne. I am finally realising my potential as a unique storyteller and trying to break into the world of content creation. I know I will never write another "Waiting for Godot" or direct a "Citizen Kane" but I do hope to tell stories that put a smile on peoples' face, a question mark on their minds and light a metaphorical light bulb above their heads. I want people to talk about what they've seen and to encourage others to do the same.
Thank you for visiting.
May the creative gypsies of the skies look favourably upon you.
